Huronia Art Glass

Our Instructors

Rita Thompson:
Rita teaches Intermediate Classes on Saturday mornings from 9:30 am to 12:00 noon all 3 seasons.  If you want to make sure that you will get your project done, this is your gal.  Full steam ahead, that’s Rita!  But she will always have the time and patience to help.  She’s a prolific artist and much of the work you may see in our front window comes from Rita’s abundant efforts. As well, she’s a champ when it comes to repairs and very handy, we might add.

Norma Vowels:
Norma also teaches our Beginners and Intermediate stained glass classes on Tuesday nights.  Her friendly nature will make you feel at ease as she offers hands-on help with your project.   Whether beginner or intermediate, you will learn a lot and have fun creating your own masterpiece under the direction of Norma.

Janet Bolton
Janet Bolton is our new instructor at Huronia Art Glass who is teaching the beginners class.  Janet has been doing stained glass for about 9 years, many of them under Rita's tutelage.  She is excited and passionate about creating and teaching glass art.  "I am in love with stained glass and feel a connection with the people here. They are a great bunch.  Working with stained glass is a wonderful stress reliever.  It's like a puzzle; where you see the finished creation clearly in your mind first then slowly and carefully make the pieces come together to realize your imagination. When it is finished only you can be the judge if you have really achieved your vision, but it is a piece of you that friends and family will always have forever."

Her enthusiasm is infectious and she has tremendous patience to teach new students all about stained glass.

Kelly Ford-Dulson
After graduating from Ryerson with a Bachelor of Architectural Technology Kelly continued her education with design, colour and glass courses at the Ontario College of Art where she was awarded “Best Stained Glass” sponsored by Hollander Glass.  For over 10 years Kelly has completed several different art courses at Haliburton School of the Arts all with the intention to discover new skills and ideas that can be applied to glass. For the past 6 years Kelly has broaden her knowledge and skill with glass fusing and slumping. Her genuine interest in people makes her workshops a natural avenue for her to share, connect, inspire and be inspired."
